When I first heard the voice memo that Filip sent me – I pictured a lush and thick mix with a lot of harmonies and strings. Me and Filip recorded a demo with acoustic guitar and midi-drums live to get a picture of the arrangement, recorded demo vocals and pretty much wrote all the existing harmonies that first day. After that it was just a matter of building the instrumentation around the vocals. I recorded myself playing drums and bass to get a solid rhythm section with a live feel, programmed some strings and wrote the piano parts for the chorus. I was aiming for the ‘1974 grammy awarded country band’ type of mindset. We went to record some pedal steel at Gustav’s place which definitely contributed to the country vibe of the song. The lyrics were written by Filip and the great Noak Hellsing and we re-recorded the final vocals and all of the harmonies. The last step was to make it a duet and who better than the excellent goth queen Nicole Sabouné.
